How the Heck Do You Wear Two Babies At Once?

Hey There, Has anyone out there ever used a twin baby carrier like the Twin Trexx2 (pictured below)? If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comments section.

Twin baby carrier

I couldn’t find any when I was pregnant, so I opted to ask for two Ergo 360 carriers on my baby registry. For many months, the only way I could go hiking was to ask a friend or my husband to come along. Fortunately, they were happy to oblige.

But there are many times I would have loved to put both babies into a carrier at the same time, just to wear around the house: to get laundry done, cook, etc; and to let them nap on me or chill out when fussy. I did try the double Moby wrap a few times (I’ve posted about this hilarious How To video before), but they didn’t like it much and usually just cried and fussed after about two months.

Once the boys got to be old enough to put one on my back (recommended at around 6 months, or when baby is strong enough to hold up head and neck well), I’d strap one on the back and one on the front, like this:

Double Ergo Action

It worked well until about a year old, when they got to be too heavy for anything more than a stroll.

I’m curious to hear about others’ experiences and approaches!

We would love for you to try out the TwinGo Carrier! The TwinGo is the first ergonomic front/back twin carrier so you can comfortably hold two babies at once AND it can also divide into two single-child carriers (one for each adult)…basically you have it all in this one high-end twin carrier. Again, we would LOVE to connect with you. Please email us

I just found your blog and as a mom to almost 6-month boy/girl twins, I’ve been enjoying it! Thank you!

The most useful place I found information on wearing both babies was the Tandem Babywearing Facebook group – tons of inspiration and feedback from Babywearing International Educators. One safety guideline they emphasize is that actually you shouldn’t wear a baby on your back in a carrier until they have the trunk strength to sit unassisted (so that if they slump down, they can easily right themselves before their airways are compromised).

After doing the twin wrap in the Mony, then front/hip carries with two ring slings, we now have a Twingo, which I love! Best weight distribution for sure. (Although I hear wrapping can be even better.) And we do take short walks in it even though mine aren’t quite sitting unassisted yet (I’m constantly checking on back baby), so I respect a parent’s right to make decisions that feel best for their family, just wanted to make sure everyone has the information they need to make informed choices.

Are you still using the TwinGo? I really love it! Thanks so much for sharing. I did the Moby wrap when the boys were tiny, then TwinGo…. Now at almost 16 months, my babies don’t like to ride in a baby carrier for very long anymore. They’re already so independent!

Hello, I came across your blog when looking up how to wear twins… I’m due with twins (#3&4 for us) Nov2016 and am a fairly experienced baby wearer but have been looking for other options besides two full carriers which sounds hot! Have you ever come across used Twingo?

The TwinGo is great because you can use it as two separate carriers or easily combine into a dual carrier. I am sure you can find one used if you post to your local multiples group or search on eBay?
