Z loves his stuffed animals. These days, he’s a big fan of Sleepy Snoogus from Cambodia Knits — and I love what the socially-conscious company is doing for the world. In this video, you can see Z playing at the table with Samaki and Soben, then taking them for a ride on his PlasmaCar.
Cambodia Knits was founded by Monika Nowaczyk, a friend of a dear friend of mine who lives in Phnom Penh. Every one of the 5 different animals offered is hand-crocheted by a Cambodian woman. Then the company gives back: For every Sleepy Snoogu sold, Cambodia Knits contributes to a scholarship fund for its employees.
Women have the power to break the intergenerational cycles of poverty, and to contribute to change in their communities. Given economic opportunities, women are known to invest in the health, education and futures of their family members.
However, many women in Cambodia have a difficult time finding and keeping paid employment–outside of prostitution. Monika believes in supporting women to support all the people of Cambodia, and her goal is to make the world a better place.
Great toys, great cause: It’s a win-win-win situation!
